Warta splits points with Assur City on
home opener;
Qudus Lawal scored a hat trick and
Martin O’Toole with one to just earn a
point in an inconsistent Warta match.
Warta fell behind on own goal after a
quick counterattack and a cross was
redirected into his own net by Warta
defender in an attempt to cut off the
pass.
Martin O’Toole equalized just seconds
after entering on to the field as a
substitute.
Assur regained the lead but Lawal
equalized just before half time to make
it 2:2.
After an inconsistent first half, Warta
took control of the game and settling it
down in their favor, but once again a
defensive miscue lead to another Assur
goal.
Lawal found the net again to equalize,
and in the final quarter of an hour
Warta created chances but failed to
score, most awkward moment was when
Joshua Cruz hit the post twice back to
back on a rebound.
Assur took the lead again at what was
clearly from an offside position, and
despite Warta protest, the goal stood.
Lawal equalized just under 10 minutes
left in the game after a great passing
combination which opened up the
opportunity for a goal.
Both sides showed a good side of them in
a high score thriller and both teams
walked away with a point on a cold
Friday night.
