Warta "A" vs Royal FC - 3:2     (6/8/06)

Warta wins their first State Cup game against Royal FC 3:2 in a thrilling game and get thru to the next faze.

Warta started the game by moving the ball around and trying to take long distance shots thinking that this will catch the keeper of guard, and it almost paid off.  Radu Giurgiu had few great shots that did not miss by much, and Stanislaw Radzik hit the post as the ball rolled down the goal line from one end to the other but did not cross.  Few minutes later a great counter attack down the left wing by Lukasz Borys who found Marcin Sierak as he crossed the ball into the penalty box when Lukasz Zukowski finished it off with a one touch volley into the back of the net.

After this goal Warta stopped playing the game for few minutes and a miss communication between a defender and the keeper, Royals equalized.  It stayed that way going into the half time break.

Second half started off with a constant attacks by Royals and got rewarded as the referee gives them a free kick right in front of the penalty box, a well executed free kick found its way over the wall and into the net as Warta keeper just looked helpless.

Warta tried few switches on the pitch but nothing seemed to work, Lukasz Zukowski hit the post trying to finish off a great attack, and Radu Giurgius' long shot bounces off the post also.

With minutes running down, Marcin Sierak remembered where he is and started to pick up his pace create good runs against the defenders.  Just minutes later as he tried to get around the defender and Marcin was brought down inside the penalty box and got rewarded.  Sierak took the kick himself and equalized sending the keeper the other way. 

Royals pushed forward trying to get the win and left Sierak against one on one with the defender, as the ball was sent to him who outran the defender and put Warta ahead.

Royal FC being down a goal unleashed all their weapons out front trying to get an equalizer, but Grzegorz Sulocha came out the hero saving few great scoring chances.  Warta had another chance to put this game out of reach as another run by Sierak into the penalty box where he was brought down for the second time, this time Lukasz Zukowski took the responsibility of executing the kick but was denied by the Royal FC keeper.

Right after the missed penalty kick by Lukasz Zukowski the referee blew the final whistle ending the game with the score of 3:2 for Warta...

Now Warta will meet RWB Adria next Friday in the Quarter Finals of the State Cup Competition..

Warta "A" vs RWB Adria (2:4) 6/16/06

It came down to two teams, both from the National Soccer League, to battle in the second semi final game this week.  RWB Adria came out the winner over a well organized Warta team. 

Warta had the best of scoring chance in the first half, as Ivek Halic cross found Marcin Sierak just in front of the goal, but his header hit the post. Later Lukasz Zukowski's run into the box but came out empty.  Minutes later Marcin Sierak was brought down inside the penalty box, but the referee did not award Warta with the kick, instead pointed to the goal kick spot.

Unfortunately, Warta played a man down right from the 38th minute as Stanislaw Radzik was shown his second yellow of the match.  Warta managed to contain the constant attacks of Adria going into the half time break.

Second half Warta playing one man down, got a great chance off a set piece as Radu Giurgius' free kick from around 35 yards was knocked down with a hand by one of the Adria players just outside of the sixteen yard box.  Lukasz Zukowski scored on a well executed free kick sending the ball just by the wall and on the ground, giving the keeper no chance.

While Warta leading one to zero, Adria pushed forward, and found an equalizer right about the 70 minute mark, as a cross from the left found Adria player inside the 5 yard box, as he headed the ball into the net.  Warta could have prevented that goal but the keeper and the defender were caught of guard.

Minutes later another counter by Adira and a few one two touches lead to their second goal.

Warta tryed to contain the situation and had a great chance with another free kick, but this time the shot was way off target. Adria found a way thru Warta defense once again as a saved shot by Sulocha, and Adria player collected the loose ball and did not missed the target from a close range. 

Warta while being down 1:3, Marcin Sierak was cut down by Adria defender but Sierak retaliated and kicked the player back and both were shown red cards just to be fair to both teams.  At first the referee gave both players a yellow, but an Adria coach was screaming at the referee, and that's what made him change the mind and sent both players off the field.

Later, Ivek Halic's run ended with a foul inside the penalty box, and Lukasz Zukowski took the responsibility executing the penalty, sending the keeper other way.  Warta managed to cut the lead in half while playing without two men, but they just could not find a way to get closer, as Sebastian Witkowski, the backup keeper committed a mistake allowing Adria to score their fourth goal, just 4 minutes before the end of the game.
