Warta State Cup hopes sink with their
loss!!
Sour defeat at home by International SC spoiled
Wartas’ hopes in State Cup Competition for year 2011.
Moments of breakdowns in the second half sees the home side out of the
race for another year.
Warta with
hopes of moving on to the finals of the 2011 Illinois State Cup didn’t last long
as they were eliminated once again in first round by visiting International SC
team.
Right in the first minute Warta
keeper Gerardo Franco was put to test, as an offside trap was beaten but great
save kept the score at 0:0.
Warta played well for the
next twenty minutes, until a quick counter attack by International forced to
make a challenging tackle in the box resulting in a penalty kick, which
International player converted to grab a 1:0 lead.
Warta still
kept on putting the pressure on and right in that moment should have had
equalized, but the ball by Armin Music sailed over the bar.
Just minutes later, the same player beat on offside trap but was called
back on a poor call by the assistant referee.
Finally, in the 29th minute Music equalized with a great
finishing off a great play which started from the midfield.
For the remaining half, Warta dominated but
failed to score another goal which came back to hurt them in the 42nd
minute of play, as a cross into the box from a free kick was unchallenged by
Warta defense found a free header and made it 1:2 in favor of the visiting team.
In the second half of the match,
Warta
started to play the same style but were caught napping in defense from an
counter attack and International scored their third goal on the evening in the
56th minute. Two minutes
later they increased the lead to 1:4 as Warta
midfielder lost possession in their own half of the field giving the opposing
team a chance to score. Another huge
mistake in defense made it 1:5.
These were the 10 minutes which Warta players
want to forget, allowing three goals off mistakes which cost them dearly.
Trailing by four goals, Warta
made changes putting in three attackers and created chances but failed to
convert. George Taylor hit the
upright in the 80th minute, and Grabowskis collective effort just
outside the box sailed way over the goal.
Finally, a cancellation goal came in the 90th minute from a
penalty spot scored by Traian Maier on a foul in the box.
The team can look back at the game and analyze
their mistakes to learn from them so the next game would bring much better
results.
Warta without seven of
their key players had a great chance but failed to make it thru to the next
round of the State Cup.
Next up is a league game against FK Rep. Serpska the next
day at home. The team will rest few
players from Saturday Cup match giving the opportunity for other players to
contribute to the team.
